One of the purposes of this web site, in addition to posting ski news, equipment reviews, tips, and ski conditions, was to create an online backcountry ski guidebook with route descriptions, pictures of routes and skiing, and detailed maps. On March 4, I received several threatening, hateful emails from 3 Wolf Creek Pass locals. The reason for the email is that three or 4 locals (supposedly more but only 4 wrote email) are outraged that I had published backcountry ski route information on "their" personal ski area on the North side of Wolf Creek Pass. This article is my response. |

I checked Telemark Tips today, and there is endless foaming about the new "Holy Grail" binding that MAY be available in 2 more years, following on the previous 8 years of development. And by the way, it weighs more than 3 pounds. Well guess what? According to Tom Conway, the Holy Grail ALREADY EXISTS:it's called Dynafit TLT Classic! |

Last winter, I stumbled into a disaster scene in the backcountry. When I arrived, several skiers were gathered around a skier laying next to the trail. The only info we could get from the downed skier was: his name was Benny, he wasn't cold, and he couldn't walk. We were only 10 minutes from the trailhead, but it took 2 long, cold, miserable hours to get him out. Without a sled, we had to carry him.
