Backcountry Snowsports Alliance Annual Fundraiser Nov. 30 6-9pm at Denver REI The BSA annual fundraiser will take place Friday November 30 6-9pm at the REI Denver Flagship Store.  Last year’s fundraiser was our most successful – let’s work together to build on that success and make 2007 better than ever!

First Female Team Skis Grand Teton

Grand Teton, the highest peak in the Teton Range at 13,770 feet, had been skied by a few women, but not an all female team. Until last week. Setting a first, two Jackson Hole women spent 14 hours climbing the peak and skiing down.

Skiing community loses a pillar

SUMMIT COUNTY - The avalanche and snow science community lost one of its founding fathers this week, when Ed LaChapelle died of a heart attack while skiing powder at Monarch Mountain Thursday.

LaChapelle, who was 80, was skiing with a group that included his wife, Meg Hunt, Paula Mears, former Colorado Avalanche Information Center director Knox Williams and Art Mears, another Colorado-based avalanche expert.
