Day 23 – Oliver

Distance: 6.6 miles

Vertical: 3500'

I had planned a pretty big tour today, but I changed plans when we got to the top of Oliver. There was a strong north east wind blowing and it was very cold. Most of the snow was wind scoured except for a few sheltered areas. The strange thing is the afternoon avalanche report commented on the calm winds and light, undisturbed snow. Maybe the wind was isolated to the southern end of the Teton Range. I talked with someone who had skied Wind Ridge on the same day and he said it was also wind scoured.

We found some good snow in areas sheltered by trees.
