We’ve been grounded for two days due to Teton Pass closures. Sometimes you get too much snow. And wind. Lots of wind associated with these storms.
Today we went to Sound of Music Bowl on Teton Pass. In order to get a parking spot on the Pass, we got there at 7:40am. The lot was about 1/2 full, but only two skiers had gone to the south side.
The two skiers were headed to the same place, but their track was so bad we broke our own. If you’re going to do a bowl more than once, it better to put in a good track right at the start. Otherwise, you’re fighting the bad track for the rest of the day. It paid off. We did four laps on SOM Bowl.
The snow was not as bad or good as I expected. The two days the Pass was closed were a total meltdown with rain in the valleys. The snow up high fell wet, I imagine. Then another 5-10 inches of colder, lighter snow fell on top of that. It made for some great skiing.
